Cottontails are a prey species and can die from capture myopathy- triggered by the onset of stress. As a result, we try to be quiet, calm, and make small movements when working with them. Due to the nature of our work, we are not able to avoid the stress associated with medicating and triaging which can make it tricky and difficult to rehabilitate these little critters.
